​Rafael Massay is a Brazilian composer whose musical voice is shaped by a fascination with storytelling, human emotion, and the expressive possibilities of sound. ​Born and raised in Brazil, Rafael brings a unique cultural perspective to his work, shaped by a love for melody, expressive harmony, and the diverse musical traditions that have influenced his artistic journey. His fascination with the relationship between music and film has led him to explore a wide musical language, drawing inspiration from classical composition, symphonic storytelling, and modern cinematic sound. Whether through an intimate piano melody, a sweeping orchestral passage, or an atmospheric soundscape, Rafael strives to create music that feels both personal and deeply connected to the story it serves.

A pianist, composer, and dedicated student of his craft, Rafael has developed his musical voice through years of independent study, exploration, and practical experience, he continues to refine his approach to composition, orchestration, and music production. His artistic journey has also been enriched by working alongside film and media composer Michael Whittaker in Nashville, Tennessee, where he gained firsthand experience in the creative and collaborative process of composing for visual media. During this time, Rafael contributed to professional media projects, including an ESPN production, gaining hands-on experience in composition, recording, music production, and mixing. Working through creative revisions and collaborative feedback, he developed a deeper understanding of the artistic and technical demands of composing for visual media, as well as the importance of communication and collaboration throughout the creative process.
